Basant Panchami
Basant Panchami, the Festival of spring, is celebrated primarily in Haryana and Punjab, during February-March. It is celebrated at the end of winter to welcome spring. 'Basant Ritu' means the spring season in Hindi. This is a festival where everyone specially the younger generation dresses in their best clothes and if possible wears them in yellow.
People greet this change of season by wearing yellow clothes, flying kites and having fun. A puja (prayer) is held in the house, teeka applied on the deity as well as everyone's forehead. Basant Panchami 2024, also spelt as Basant Panchami, or Saraswati Puja is a festival that represents the arrival of Vasant Ritu (Spring Season).
On this day, Mata Saraswati is worshipped. Basant Panchami 2024 date is February 15, 2013. Basant Panchmi festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the month Magh (Magha masa Shukla Panchami).
